Name/Work Name: Sawada Tsunayoshi / Skylar
Canon: Katekyo Hitman REBORN!
Canon Point: End of series!
AU/CRAU: CRAU
Age: 15
History: Good thing you've already had a Tsuna before, huh.
Personality: So Tsuna is a shonen in a shonen manga, so naturally he embraces all good shonen-y traits like the power of FRIENDSHIP (pretty much his core value), never giving up, being a fountain of optimism and other such shonen-y aspects.

... except haha at the beginning of the manga Tsuna doesn't embrace those two latter traits much at all. In fact, he's actually a loser mcloser pants who's perpetually socially awkward and fails at... everything, and he fails hard. The kid tried on a test and got like... a 16. Baby, no. So he sucks at life and he knows he sucks at life, too. He's branded with the nickname "No-Good Tsuna" and has pretty much really given up on making an effort towards anything. He's basically an average kid who hasn't really had the most luck in life and doesn't suspect that'll change anytime soon.

Enter Reborn who isn't taking his defeatist shit and basically forces him to do everything he's ever wanted to do and has been too afraid to, because he didn't want to try only to fail. And throughout the manga, Tsuna slowly learns that if he does try, he actually can succeed. One significant point in this process is during the future, when Tsuna attempts a new technique and ends up blasting himself into the wall. Reborn asks him if he can perfect this technique and Tsuna says "I don't know, maybe" before falling unconscious. Reborn notes with pride that this is the first time Tsuna has admitted a chance of success, where as before, his favorite answer to "can you do this?" would be "no, I can't". His crowning moment of improvement in this aspect is during the last arc of the series, in which Tsuna actively rallies up his allies in order to save his mentor-- a far cry from the boy who used to run at the slightest hint of trouble.

However, that isn't to say his confidence has miraculously gotten better, or that he's now a full-fledged leader. The potential is there, certainly, but even at the end of the manga, Tsuna still shies from the responsibility, power and reputation of his title. And by shies I mean vehemently rejects the offer to be the boss. There's still that inherent desire in him to avoid any conflict, a desire to simply enjoy a normal life with his friends.

In fact, Tsuna would never have gotten into any conflict at all if it weren't for his friends being in danger. Tsuna actually hates fighting and has often dragged his feet through training. It isn't until he realizes that his and his friend's lives are in danger that he actually willingly fights-- willingly being used loosely. The Ninth boss commented how Tsuna "always fought with a furrowed brow and his fists clenched as though in prayer"-- as a boy whom detested violence, he wasn't fit for the violent mafia world at all.

And that really could not be closer to the truth. Aside from hating conflict, Tsuna is a caring and forgiving boy. Countless times he has befriended people who had come close to killing him, which, miracle of miracles, actually ended helping him out rather than ended up with him getting stabbed in the back. He worries constantly over his friends, and if there's ever a time one of them is feeling down or upset, he wants to help them out. It could be something like a change in routine to take a friend's mind off family conflicts, or taking a doggy bag to them to make sure they're able to eat healthy if the circumstances may prevent them from doing so otherwise.

Have I mentioned the forgiving part? Tsuna is ridiculously sympathetic towards his enemies; he refuses to ever finish a person off (with the exception of Daemon Spade who was an asshole that lived way past his time anyway) and even expresses concern for them their situation is uncertain; in the case of a trio of boys who'd severely wounded him and his friends, and one of them actually possessed his friend's bodies to use them against him, Reborn mentions to the two of them that he would always ask what had happened to them or if anything new came up whenever they broached the topic. It doesn't matter what they've done, to Tsuna and his friends or otherwise, he's always willing to forgive and forget. It may be a stretch to say that he befriends them all, but in any case, all of those people eventually end up becoming helpful allies.

Tsuna is what his friends like to call extraordinarily ordinary. Though he may be heir to the most powerful family and is one of the most powerful people in the series, he has an affable, dorky sort of personality that makes him easy to relate to; a "real" person who has doubts and insecurities and would prefer a mundane life despite his strength and position. With his kindness and forgiveness he has the potential to become something truly great, once he gets over his fears... and, of course, once someone actually kicks his butt into doing it.

Debt: To be able to visit and protect all his friends and family-- including those he met within Paradisa.

Previous Game Info: Tsuna spent just over a year at a magical castle called Paradisa. It was a wonderful place that provided everything to you free of charge, and you could wish for any material thing you wanted-- all it did was just take something very important to you. Oh, and feed off your soul. For Tsuna, that important thing was memories of Kyoko, a girl whom he has a wild crush on in school. Suffice to say that this "loss" did not actually affect him that much (given that he couldn't remember what was forgotten since he forgot it!), but none-the-less, Paradisa was a rollercoaster of events, and most of them he could honestly do without. The first major event that happened to him was a "world change" where all the inhabitants of Paradisa temporarily took on alternate memories and believed themselves to be a part of large families. Though they eventually regained their memories, the bonds that Tsuna made in that time became the most important bonds he had in his entire time throughout Paradisa. In fact, they eventually did end up becoming something of a family-- after having grown tired and wary by the many tricks of the castle, Tsuna eventually moved out to live with a few of his friends in a house in the small village nearby.

Tsuna has been through a lot in Paradisa. His memories have been manipulated on a few occassions, he's been turned into a dog, traded bodies with his box weapon Natsu, fought aliens with nothing but a dagger, been subjected to psychological torture aboard a lovely spaceship called the Event Horizon among other crazy and strenous events. The result of all this? Mostly, desensitization to all the crazy-- and a rather healthy(?) paranoia of all the things that can happen in another world. Certainly, it's had him work hard to ensure that he can still protect himself and his friends, even without his powers. The most important thing that he's gained from his experience there, however, would be the bonds that he's made.

Giotto: The most important relationship he's made by far-- Tsuna met his ancestor and the founder of the modern-day Mafia, Giotto. When he first saw him, he actually turned tail and ran straight in the other direction. Tsuna was actually quite ashamed of himself and was terrified of meeting the man he looked up to so much for fear of rejection. With a push from a friend, Tsuna eventually met him face to face and admitted his fears. What was born was an invaluable and inseparable relationship between himself and the man he eventually came to call "Nonno". They truly had a grandfather-grandson relationship, with Giotto acting as Tsuna's support and guidance, and Tsuna being his source of light and hope. After his traumatic experience on the Event Horizon, Tsuna stayed a few days with Giotto to recover, which goes to show just how much he trusted and relied on him. This is easily the person who he would like to be able and see and help most with his wish.

Reborn: His home tutor, Tsuna's close relationship with Reborn continued to grow in Paradisa. Nothing has really changed, but it's important to note that through a rather hilarious incident, Tsuna finally realized the connection between Reborn and his adult form.

Ino: Tsuna's closest non-canon CR, Ino was his big sister during the family world change. When things became too crazy for him in the castle, Tsuna asked Ino if he could come to her home. She definitely stepped up to the big sister role the castle put her into, and provided a lot of emotional support for him. She was the first of a very few friends to learn about his being in the Mafia.

Zelos: A complicated relationship, Zelos was his big brother during the family world change. When learning that powers did not work outside a certain range of the castle called the "dead zone", Zelos became his mentor in teaching him how to weild a knife. Zelos teased him relentlessly while Tsuna fought to prove himself. In a dream where Tsuna addressed Zelos' followers, the two learned that they have a lot more in common than they thought-- mainly, that they were thrust into a position of high expectation of which neither of them wanted to be in, and both thought that they weren't good enough for. Regardless, the two did care for each other, their relationship was just... strained.

Allen: Tsuna's other big brother-figure. Though, their relationship was more akin simply to friends than siblings. They didn't particularly share any significant moments, however-- just spent a lot of time together under the same house.

Inventory:
- Clothes
- Mittens that turn into tacky guantlets
- Ring that houses his box weapon, Natsu

He also acquired some items in Paradisa.

Abilities: Shonen lasers.

Typically, Tsuna is your perfectly average boy. I'm sure despite his perpetually lean and scrawny adolescent body he's built up quite a bit of muscle and is probably deceptively strong for someone of his age and stature. Not to say that that's really much strength at all, just... more than you would expect!

The one ability he does have is his Hyper Intuition. It's used in one of three ways:

1) In battle, it's something like a psychic ability. It allows him to predict physical movements of his enemy if he's fighting against a human (or human enough; it's been shown to work on wretched experiments that used to be human, and also works for those who have human-like movements, so it'd probably work on any humanoid). It's not explicitly stated, but most likely, he needs to be in one of his special forms in order to use hyper intuition in this way.

2) Tsuna can tell if he's being exposed to illusions. Again, he needs to be in one of his forms for this part of his hyper intuition to be activated.

3) Both in and out of battle, this ability works passively as what is more or less a sixth sense. An incredibly spotty sixth sense that works whenever is convenient for the author. He can pick up on when people are lying or being dishonest, or he can tell if something is "off" about a situation or about a way a person is acting. So basically kind of like an empath. For example, his hyper intuition had to be sealed when he was going through a test and one of his friends had been replaced by an imposter because he almost immediately figured out something was different about them. Again. Spotty-- Tsuna definitely doesn't catch every lie he's heard (I don't know how many he's caught canonly-- probably not more than 5 times in a 400-chapter series) and sometimes, even when it does work, he just writes it off as a strange feeling. You'd think he'd learn, given how helpful it's been to him, but you would not believe how ridiculously naive this boy can be.

In order for Tsuna to actually be of any use properly fight, he needs to go into Dying Will Mode or Hyper Dying Will Mode. The most obvious indicator that Tsuna is in one of these forms is the flame that is emitted from his forehead, which grows or shrinks depending on his strength.

Dying Will Mode is a form which "externally removes body limiters." In other words, he suddenly has physical capabilities that would make any athlete weep in envy. Strength, speed, and endurance are all greatly enhanced in this form. Generally, one enters this mode in one of two ways: by consumption of a singular dying will pill, or by being shot by a dying will bullet (in the forehead, specifically!). However, since Tsuna has been shown to be able to go into Hyper Dying Will Mode on his own, he could reasonably do the same for this mode. His personality changes dramatically, as he becomes loud, energetic, and rather extreme and reckless as he stops at nothing to achieve whatever regret he had last before he was shot.

Hyper Dying Will Mode (HDWM) is a form which "releases internal limiters, therefore releasing a person's hidden awareness". It puts extreme pressure on the body, making it feel "as though it were breaking". Strength, speed, and endurance are also greatly enhanced in his form. In addition, Tsuna can use the manga's equivalent of a life force in the form of flames. To enter this mode, one must be shot with a Criticism shot, or ingest two dying will pills; however, Tsuna accumulated enough experience to enter the form on his own. HDWM enhances Tsuna's senses and temporarily reduces his insecurities, causing him to be calm and collected, and even cocky. He has a buttload of abilities unlocked in this form and I am not even going to attempt to list them all. So here, have a useful wikipedia link once again.

What's not listed but it is pretty central to his method of fighting-- Tsuna can use dying will flames to propel himself through the air. And hover. ....... and stick to walls. Somehow. I don't know, manga logic.

Strengths and Weaknesses:
+ His dying will-- aka, his resolve. Tsuna will do anything to protect his friends, even if it means dying.
+ Leadership skills. Despite not liking or wanting to be a leader, Tsuna has a good head on his shoulders and has a lot of respect from everyone he knows.
+ His fighting abilities, obviously.
+ Emotional intelligence! Tsuna is very good at picking up on how other people feel (thanks, hyper intuition!)

~ His kindness. This can really go one of two ways. Tsuna is extremely forgiving, which earns him plenty of allies... but it's a miracle that no one has truly taken advantage of it.

- Academic intelligence is not his thing.
- Actually, he really doesn't have a natural talent in much anything besides what was listed above
- Because he can still be pretty defeatist at times and has trouble believing in himself
- Which also causes laziness

Hi, I should have done this forever ago BUT BETTER LATE THAN NEVER, RIGHT...???

So Tsuna has this thing called Hyper Intuition, which has three different functions. The one pertaining to this permissions post is that his hyper intuition acts as a sixth sense and basically allows him to be something like a passive empath. For example, if a character lies to him, he'll get a ~feeling~ that there's something "off" about what they're saying, or that they're being untruthful. Another example is if your character is feeling uneasy, he may feel a bit of this emotion himself, believing the "air to be tense" or something similar. He can also sense if a character is being possessed.

He can't read thoughts, a person whose mind is "jumbled" may cause ill effects, and it only works in person, and is generally "focused on" the person whom he is actively communicating with or has his attention on, or the people nearest to him, although if they're not in his focus (such as passerbys) he won't pick up on anything unless there's a strong malicious intent.

Of course, Tsuna is just a wee boy and hasn't trained or really actively recognized his hyper intuition, so there's a good chance of him just writing the feeling off instead of listening to it, or it may be so weak it goes completely unnoticed. This may change with time, but for now, Tsuna's most likely only going to act on this feeling unless it's malicious, or if he interacts with a given character a lot over time and continues to get these feelings.

1. Is it okay for Tsuna to pick up on your character's emotions?

2. Does your character have any "mental shields" that may interfere with this ability?

3. Does your character have an unstable mind that may interfere with this ability?

4. Is there something else residing in your character's mind that Tsuna might get some emotional leakage from (I.E, the Kyuubi from Naruto, an alternate personality, and so on)?

5. Is there anything I did not think of that I should have that your character needs addressed?

If it is okay for Tsuna to pick up on your character's emotions, please try to make some hint of them in your tags-- or let me know oocly! Additionally, I might end up poking you oocly anyway for clarification. c:

What do the differently formatted fonts mean?
Note: These formatting changes only occur in action spam. For third-person, only standard format is used, or italics for emphasis or thoughts.

Standard font denotes speech. Italics may be used for emphasis on certain words. CAPS usually indicate loud, startled speech. Big font may also suit this purpose. Very seldom, bold may be used to indicate extremely loud yelling.

[Small font in brackets] denotes action. One or two words may occasionally be italicized for emphasis.

[Small font in brackets with all the words in a sentence being italicized] denotes Tsuna's thoughts. One or two words may occasionally not be italicized for emphasis.

What's the deal with the Japanese honorifics?
If you're asking why I'm using them, it's because it's habit for Tsuna. Even being in Para for a couple months, he still prefers to use them, mostly because his docile nature expects him to show a certain amount of respect to everybody.

If you're asking why I keep switching up between them, let me give you a big fat apology. Sorry! Japanese is [clearly] NOT my first language, and as such sometimes I have difficulty determining what honorifics Tsuna should use for each character. Is the character old/mature enough that Tsuna feels he should use -san, rather than -kun? Is he comfortable enough with a girl to use -chan instead of -san, or does he drop the honorific altogether? IT'S A MYSTERY UNTIL I DO THE TAG.

Generally:
• Tsuna will address all adults and females with -san.
• Tsuna will address boys around and younger than him with -kun.
• Tsuna will use -chan if he has a strong relationship with a girl around his age, although that hasn't occured in Paradisa yet, and
• Tsuna will drop the honorific altogether if it's a person he feels comfortable doing so with. Or-- if using honorifics with them seems awkward for whatever reason.

If I slip up and use -san instead of -kun or forget altogether, just pretend he said the honorific most relevant to your character according to the chart above. Tsuna's lived his whole life in Japan and as such is much, much less prone to making silly honorific mistakes than I am. If you're not sure where your character falls, leave a note here or ping me, and I'll tell you!

What are Tsuna's defining features?

Click for bigger image.

Tsuna's hair LITERALLY adds a good half a foot to his height. But hey, he lives in anime world and it's not all that unusual for kids his age to have stark white hair, so maybe that's not that weird. But something else your character might notice is his mittens, along with the pair of rings (seen at the top) [Of course, you'd only be able to see the rings if the mittens were off, since they're worn underneath them]. Regardless of the temperature or what he's doing-- unless he is relaxing in someone's room (or in water, such as the pool or a shower)-- he is always wearing these wool mittens.

As of September 3rd, Tsuna has a scar across the bridge of the nose. Healing magic used on him reduced it to its current size, a half a centimeter vertically and a centimeter horizontally. As of September 9th, he has a scar across the middle of his left palm, going diagonally from his index finger to the hypothenar muscles [essentially, going to the opposing side of the hand where the hand and wrist join]. From each end, the scar is about 4 centimeters long and approximately 2 millimeters wide in the middle, which randomly decreases in size towards the ends.

Who/What is Natsu?

Click for a bigger image. Colored version by [deviantart.com profile] HappybeeJrr.

Natsu is Tsuna's box weapon. Essentially, he is a consciousness whose personality reflects Tsuna's, and can either take the form of a lion (as whenever he is initially summoned) or into one of three weapons, all of which are listed here, slightly down and next to Natsu's profile. While Natsu is in his lion form, he is roughly a foot tall to the tip of his ears.

Much like Tsuna, Natsu is something of a scaredy cat and is shy and can be easily spooked or intimidated. However, he's also a great judge of character, and is drawn towards genuinely good-hearted people. His flames do not burn unless he is used in combat or feels threatened; otherwise, they can be moved through without harm, and basically feel like thick steam. Unless one or both of the before-mentioned statements are true, the flames are not hot enough to cause discomfort unless your character has a strong, natural aversion to heat.

Natsu's dormant form is the Ring of the Sky Version X (seen at the top), which Tsuna always wears under his gloves unless otherwise mentioned (for example, while he is out in the deadzone, or obviously, immediately before, after, and during taking a shower. He does wear it while he's sleeping.) Tsuna summons Natsu by activating his ring with his fire powers. Here is a video demonstrating a summoning of Natsu (as well as an example of what he sounds like), to give you an idea, but keep in mind this is an earlier form of his container, the box.

Giotto Vongola
Katekyo Hitman Reborn!

"Grandpa". There's nothing Tsuna doesn't trust him with. No longer quite the perfect "hero" Tsuna imagined, but someone who is irreplaceably dear to him and close to his heart regardless. He's the only person Tsuna's actually comfortable having physical contact with, such as hugging or getting his hair rustled.
